Dr. Phillips has been involved in the field of wellness for more than 35 years and is internationally recognized as a published researcher, author and speaker. He is a former Post-Doctoral Fellow at Stanford School of Medicine, Center for Research in Disease Prevention and Professor (now Professor Emeritus) at Arizona State University. Dr. Phillips is a nationally recognized teacher with extensive academic and professional credentials in wellness and health related behavior change.

Joel P. Mascaro, D.O., A.O.B.F.P.

Dr. Mascaro is a board-certified family physician who, during the past 30 years has conducted more than 450,000 face-to-face patient visits with positive outcomes. He is a recipient of a congressional appointment to the United States Military Academy and considers himself to be a “preventologist” above just a medical practitioner. He serves as an adjunct Professor of Medicine at Midwestern College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale, Arizona. Dr. Macaro’s areas of specialization include preventive medicine, natural hormonal balancing, nutrition, exercise physiology and osteopathy.

Dr. Jeffrey L. Alexander is an Associate Professor in the Doctor of Health Sciences Program of the Arizona School of Health Sciences, A.T. Still University.  His teaching responsibilities at the University primarily involve the instruction and facilitation of student research in the health sciences.  Dr. Alexander is actively involved in applied research in the area of maintaining and enhancing independence and functioning among older adults. He also serves on a number of University, local, national, and international committees and/or groups addressing areas ranging from the prevention of falls among the elderly to the promotion of student and employee wellness. Dr. Alexander serves as a member of the Evaluation Committee of the NCOA State Coalition on Falls Prevention Workgroup as well as the steering committee of the Arizona Fall Prevention Coalition. In addition, he is a recently appointed Fellow of the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Dr. Alexander has also served as a member of the Visioning Board of the International Council on Active Aging. He has served as contributing editor for the American Journal of Health Promotion and has served as a reviewer for a number of clinical journals.  Dr. Alexander has published his research in various clinical and health science related journals and presented his research at conferences held throughout the country.

Patricia Grace

Grace is the founder and CEO of Aging with Grace, a national eldercare assistance program addressing the growing work/life issue of elder caregiver stress. Since launching the company in the outskirts of Philadelphia in 2005, her clients now include public and private organizations nationwide.

She is a popular national speaker on issues related to working caregivers, and provides content on issues related to eldercare, caregiver stress and long term care for ProducersWeb.com and EmpowHER.com. Grace has gained an excellent reputation for the engaging interactive programs about caregiver issues that she presents to large labor audiences across the country. In 2009, she was appointed to The Roundtable Group a national consortium of experts.

With more than 21 years experience in the senior health field, Grace served as Co-Chair for the East Coast Aging Conference in 2007 and 2008. She was a finalist for the 2007 Business Forum Award by the American Society on Aging. And she is the host of the weekly Internet radio program, Aging with Grace on BlogTalkRadio. Grace studied history/education at Temple University

Kay Wing, PT, DPT, NCS, GCS

Founder and President, SWAN Rehab

Wing, is founder and president of Phoenix-based SWAN Rehab, founded in 2003 to serve stroke and brain injury survivors. The company has since expanded to serve those with other neurological conditions. Therapy at SWAN is based on the philosophy that motor function can continue to improve regardless of the age of the individual or how many years have passed since the stroke or injury

During 35 years of practice, she has managed rehabilitation departments throughout the Phoenix area. Wing is the immediate past president of the Arizona Physical Therapy Association and is a member of its board of directors.

She is certified by the American Physical Therapy Association as both a Neurological Certified Specialist, and a Geriatric Certified Specialist. She is an adjunct faculty member at Northern Arizona University and at A.T. Still University. In 2008, she received the Clinical Excellence in Neurology Award from the Neurology Section of the American Physical Therapy Association. In 2003, the Arizona Physical Therapy Association presented her the prestigious "Physical Therapist of the Year" award. 

She received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Northern Arizona University and her certificate in physical therapy from Northwestern University.

Brad Harper, MS

Harper is one of the nation’s leading authorities on individual management development and organizational effectiveness. He founded Trigon Executive Assessment Center in Scottsdale, Arizona in 1993 to specialize in developing corporate management strategies, evaluating management candidates, designing individual employee development programs, resolving corporate culture issues and providing first line intervention to create alternatives to firing people.

He developed the proprietary Executive Strategic Development Program and also serves as a behavioral consultant to both college and professional sports teams. He has worked with groups and individuals in more than 200 corporations including: American Express, Ameritech, Bobcat, Bull, ESPN, General Dynamics, Ingersoll-Rand, Intel, KB Homes, Kemper Insurance, Motorola, Naval Aviation Systems, Phoenix Suns, and Procter and Gamble.

Target Training International (TTI), a national research-based professional problem solving resource, presented Harper the 1997 TTI President's Award in 1997 and 2003 for outstanding contribution to the profession.

He completed both his undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Arizona and is a nationally certified counselor and certified psychologist.

Karen Meyer, PT, DPT

A physical therapist with more than 22 years of experience in working with seniors in outpatient, home health and inpatient settings, Meyer has worked extensively in orthopedics, sports medicine and geriatrics. She has particular training in the highly specialized area of fall prevention training, including assessment and treatment of vestibular disorders. She was also part of the team of experts that developed the comprehensive ActiveRx Fall Prevention Assessment and Treatment Program.

Meyer is a popular public speaker about balance and fall prevention strategies, having made dozens of presentations to professional groups and at senior living communities.

She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at A.T. Still University and her Bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from Indiana University. She is member of the geriatric, orthopedic and neurological sections of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Arizona Fall Prevention Coalition.
